Passwords & VaultPass
Save and fill passwords with a PIN, or use your VaultPass vault.
Aetherium can fill your logins from its own built-in password manager (locked with a PIN), or from your VaultPass zero-knowledge vault. Bitwarden and 1Password are supported too.
Choose your password manager
Open Preferences › Password Auto-Fill and pick from Choose one of the supported password managers:: Built-in password manager (the default), VaultPass, Bitwarden, 1Password, or none.
Built-in password manager
Save a password
After you sign in somewhere, Aetherium asks Save password for …?. Choose Save, Don't save or Never save (for that site).
Protect them with a PIN
- Open your saved passwords: the key button, Ctrl+Shift+K , or ⋮ › Saved Passwords.
- The first time you see Create a PIN. Enter 4 to 8 digits twice and press Save PIN.
- From then on, enter the PIN to Unlock. It stays unlocked until you close Aetherium or leave it idle for 15 minutes.
View, delete, import and export
The saved passwords window lists each site and username. Reveal a password with the eye button, or delete it.
Import credentials reads a CSV file (it replaces matching entries) and Export credentials
saves them to a plain-text credentials.csv; delete that file when you are done.
VaultPass
VaultPass keeps your logins encrypted so that only you can read them. In Aetherium it is read-only: Aetherium fills logins from your vault, and you add or edit them on the VaultPass site.
- Choose VaultPass under Preferences › Password Auto-Fill. A lock button appears in the toolbar.
- On a login page, click the key icon in the login field (or press Ctrl+\ ).
- Sign in with your VaultPass email and master password, and the 6-digit code from your authenticator app if you use two-factor sign-in.
- Aetherium offers to set a PIN (4 to 8 digits). With a PIN you only type the PIN from then on, even after restarting, until you sign out of VaultPass. Leave it empty to skip.
Click the toolbar lock button to Unlock, Lock, Open VaultPass site or Sign out of VaultPass. VaultPass locks itself after 15 minutes without use, and after 5 wrong PINs it asks for your master password.
Filling logins
- When your password manager is unlocked, login forms fill by themselves. If you have several logins for a site, click the username box to pick one.
- When it is locked, nothing pops up on its own. Click the key icon in the field or press Ctrl+\ , and you are asked to unlock.
- The AI agent can fill a saved login for you without ever seeing the password.
